We have a flute that we play, I'm a descendant of the pied piper, so it's just a different tune I've learned. They just really like to follow the boat and try to jump in with us. I guess it's kind of mean that we end up shooting them in the face afterward, but oh well
You can get started bowfishing for pretty cheap actually. While there are a lot of specialized bows out there, almost any bow will work, and in my opinion the cheaper the better. These bows tend to get abused pretty good.
So if you don't already have an old bow, I'd check your local pawn shop for a cheap used recurve if you can get it, or a low poundage compound. 40 lbs is plenty. Bows made for kids usually work pretty well.
Then you'll need a reel and arrow. The retriever reel from AMS is going to be your all around best bet in my opinion. If you can't spend the cash for that right off the bat, then look for a drum reel. You should be able to get a drum reel, line and an arrow for about $25. That's at least something to get you started.
Also, check out Bowfishingcountry.com (our sister site) for tons more bowfishing info.
Oh and by the way, I'm not really the pied piper, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night
