will shooting into a dirt bank hurt my arrows?
I'm gonna have a pretty slow day at work today so on my way out the door I grabbed my bow to get some over due practice in. However I didn't remember to grab my bag target,
 I'm shooting gold tip xt hunters. I was thinking about sitting a box up against a dirt bank and shooting into it. Do you think this is a bad idea, should I just wait and shoot later.

What type of dirt is it? If it is clay It won’t hurt a thing it if is sand it would be like sandpaper on the shaft. If there are rocks in the dirt you could hit one of the rocks dead on and push the tip and insert threw your shaft and make your shaft useless. IMO bad Idea.

just make sure there are no rocks in the dirt pile. i used to shoot into a pile of top soil and had a problem.

Take the box and go around gathering all your co-workers shirts, sweatshirt, coats laying around and fill the box before you shoot. Then let em rip. The clothing makes a great target filler and no more worry about damage to your arrows!!!!

I'm the only one here so there is one shirt in the box.
I went ahead and done it. I've shot 6 sets of 3 so far and haven't noticed anything wrong yet. I inspect my arrows after each series to make sure there's no damage. Seems to work ok, I'm getting more penatration than I get on my yellow jacket broadhead target.

on broadhead leagues that i have shot on you shoot into a pit and its just a pit of sand.... shouldnt be a problem at all

ugh.. i wouldnt shoot into dirt or sand repeatedly and on purpose.
