Reezen 7.0 Issue
I have shot this bow ~200 times and discovered this today.
Is this normal or am I off my rocker for expecting more from an 800 dollar bow?
Thanks!

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
Old Crow - I have about 200 shots on the string...
I am taking it to Mitch's here in Canton, GA. He is a Mathews dealer and took more time with me when I went in there the other day than the shop I bought the bow from.

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
I forgot the important question...
Is the cam hitting the string? If so, has anyone seen this with the Reezen 7.0?

Here Read this .... Seems a bit quick for that kind of separation and wear ...Good Idea to take it in and have them look it over........
But It was Mathews getting beat up on stock string quality .... here is a thread and comments from some very respected members .
Best of luck

If it is just the string, I will feel better...
Is it funny that my diamond string never stretched after 600+ shots...
I just had to have something faster, didn't I?

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
Welcome to Bow Country. I think you bow is OK. I would look at your draw and check your cam lean or anything unusual with your string and cam during movement. I have a friend and all he has is Mathews bows in fact I am using his DXT until my new bow comes in and he had this kind of problem with his switchback, dxt & reezen, so for he did not have this problem with his monster. Have the Pro Shop check it out also and if everything is all good contact Wes AKA Stringtwister and he can help you out. He is on here under the name stringtwister and he owns pro strings. Good Luck.

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
Zebra Strings don`t seem to hold up well on the sharp angles that mathews bows have, get yourself some pro strings from wes and you won`t have any worries.

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
Yea.. I will see what the new shop I go to says in the morning..
They are great people and will take care of me.
My problem is that money is not the issue but if you pay 800 for a bow, why in the heck would you have to replace the string after 200 shots? Maybe Mathews should offer a string upgrade package?
I plan on posting the same on the Mathews forum once I have an account to see what they have to say.

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
That is a bit much, though you can expect some of that from a stock Mathews. Usually not enough to worry about, but I would have your bow checked out and see about a replacement string (as in defective manufacture, not as in an after-market upgrade).

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
If they replace your strings with the same strings from Mathews it will happen again, I suggest you PM Stringtwister (Wes) and get you a set of Pro Strings before going back with the originals.

Some of my friends that use Mathews have there original strings for a few seasons and a lot of shooting before they change them out so I quess they put some good quality strings on. The old PSE bows use to get good strings on them back in the day, I will soon find out how the B.E.S.T strings they use now hold up.

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
I had the same exact thing happen when I first got my Reezen 6.5, but mine was worse. There was a burr(spelling?) on the cam that cut the cable and my serving was separated. The cam and the cable was replaced with a new zebra barracuda cable and I've put 1,000+ plus shots through that cable and the serving and cable are still in good condition, except for some string stretch, which was easily fixed.
I hope that helps you out a little seeing that I had the same issue.

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
Like the rest have said...the stock strings stink. Not sure why, but most of the manufacturers use less than great strings on the 800 bows. There are, as with anything exceptions...some companies are placing a high end string on their high end model, but by and large junk is what they get put on the bows.
The trend of stickin a better set of strings on the high end bows is reletively young, and I personally hope it catches on, and expands to the rest of the "high" end product lines. I can understand the less than perfect string on a entry level bow tho.

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
My question is... is it the string or the cable separating like that? I have seen all the solo cams from the Switchback to date cause that on the cable from where it's caming over.... not that bad however.... in agreement with everyone else Stock strings and even personally the upgraded barracuda strings stink! .. If they won't warranty them ... go to Extreme Strings or ProStrings .... they're cheaper per set and last a lot longer!

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
It is just the cable. I just dropped it off at the shop and they said it would be taken care of. The timing is way off on the bow as well, so hopefully it will be fined tuned and ready to rock this evening.
I also plan on ordering a setup from ProStrings.

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
Personally I think every1 should use quality strings
on all their modles especially the high end Bows. 150
-200 shots is not a lot when you count tunning practice
and the season. I agree with Max I would be POed if that
happened to me. Not about the $$$$ but about the Prinscipalities

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
My 6.5 is doing the same thing. I'm gonna have to use my back up bow and get new cable and string. I've probably got about 500 shots on mine and to me it's ridiculous that I've gotta replace them already.

yep! my reezon 7.0 doing the same thing. i put a drop of glue to keep serving from unraveling. EVERY mathews i have ever owned does that crap. very aggravating but i/we keep buying them anyhow. hopefully one day they will fix it. IS it TRUE that getting wes`s pro string will eliminate this completely?

I have a set of his strings on my cam .5 ultratec...guessin in the neighbor hood of 10K shots (how can one complain with that)...just now seeing a nudge of serving moving on the lower cam...right at the typical harsh corner.

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
every mathews i have owned has done that...prety typical for mathews that was one more reason i didn't go with a reason. it's due to the sharp angle on the cam lobe. i'm not having the problem with my monster.

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
I got my bow back yesterday and shot today.
What a difference it made..
I wish I would have bought the bow from Mitch from the start.
He put the cam back in spec, new cable, and new suppressors Everything was covered by Mathews.
He also told me to watch the cable and if it starts again he will get a cam in and replace it.
I am all ready for the hunt this weekend!
Next on the list...
New Sight
Pro String

PM Stringtwister and ask him. I know my coworker put some custom strings on his and he has not had the problem again yet. He said all his mathews bows have done this.

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
all single cam bows are inherently going to do this-they develop there power on that lope-mathews are worse than most due to the string lobes being very smooth they need to make up the speed elsewhere and they do that on the lobe of the cable track-you will never eliminate the problem but quality strings and the proper serving will greatly reduce the issue.

Timing way off on a single cam bow? Is that just the cam alignment as far as the rotation goes? They have holes that should be level but my impression on timing is between cams? Could be wrong though anybody with more expeience get me straight here? Would love to know for sure. Thanks!!

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
Mathews strings have always done this. Believe it or not the problem is much better than it was say 10 years ago. If you want to help the problem take the Mathews string and cable off and put a good quality set on. The same mathews strings that the dealer put on for you will do the same thing plus delay your getting back in the woods as I WOULD NEVER TRUST A SET OF MATHEWS STRINGS NOT TO STRETCH AND SETTLE WITHIN THE FIRST 100 TO 200 SHOTS!! Best case scenario is a peep that won't line up at the moment of truth. Pro Strings is a good choice--high quality serving, pre-stretched, and rock solid. Costs some money, but you will be set to hunt a lot quicker.

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
I pushed the serving back down the string to close the gap and superglued the end of the serving. I'm sure many of you have heard of this little trick. It's all over the Mathews forum (I think there's a sticky on it). It works, and it will get me through the season until I can replace with better strings.

Re: Reezen 7.0 Issue
This is very common with mathews bows. The cam is hard on serving in that
spot. I have always had every new bow RESERVED in that area after a couple
hundred shots. Also, mathews are notorious for long for spec lengths, so I would error on the short side to allow for stretch and clothing. I have had good
luck with tiger strings, I just have 'em reserved. I am a 28 inch draw on any bow made....'cept mathews. I get them in 27 1/2"
Good Luck.
