I would say that 125 gr would be your best bet.

I have a 40# recurve I think I shoot about 43 # with my draw length. I have been reading Dr. Ashby's research. My arrow set up weighs in at 655 gr total arrow wt. I us GT expedition 3555 full length arrows. 100 gr brass inserts 300 gr field points plus 2 washers 5 gr each. Going to use 125 adapters and Abowyer Brown Bear 175 gr single bevel heads with the two brass washers.

If you want to go more main line my other arrow set up is CX 20/40 Predator II arrows full length with their standard insert and 145 gr field points. With three 4" feathers.

What spine weight are you going to buy? How long is your draw length? Will you be hunting with these arrows? I take it that these are the 11/32" shafts? What bow is it? It would be helpful to get an idea if it has an arrow shelf and if that shelf is cut anywhere near to center.

I will be using half for hunting half for practice. I have a 29ish draw length. THe arrows are 40-45 pound spines. The bow says on it 40xx at 26 inches. should i just pull it to 26... its an antique (50-60years)

You need to pull it to full draw, if your draw length is 29 and the bow is marked 40 you should be pulling around 43# at your draw. If the bow can't handle full draw it is not safe to shoot at any length. What type of bow is it?
