Default ATV Accessories

Just bought a used atv. I'm looking to outfit it for deer hunting and working on the hunting ground. What's everyone's favorite accessories and are there any that you regret buying.

I'm particularly interested in knowing what brand/type bow/gun racks you use. I would also like to know if it's worth putting a basket on the back for hauling tools. I already have a small trailer, so I'm thinking the basket will be overkill.

Finally, what are the items that you wouldn't leave without (i.e. tool kits, tire repair kits, etc)? I'm hoping to learn from you guys so I don't get stranded someplace and have to learn from the hard knocks.

how fitting...

you could get a giant azz baloon to seal yourself in so when it flips over you don't end up with a busted up collar bone...850 miles from home...

actually, the gun racks on OHBH quad work out great for holding climbers. Get a hold of him to find out the brand.

That's good to know. I was looking at some of the stand holders, too. If he doesn't chime in, I'll shoot him a PM.

PRE GAPPED SPARK PLUG, ALWAYS CARRY A SPARE. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THEY WILL FOUL OUT. DONT FORGET A WRENCH TO GET IT OUT.

EMERGENCY GAS. I USE A ALUMINUM WHITE GAS FUEL CONTAINER THAT YOU CAN GET AT ANY SPORTING GOOD STORE FOR LIKE 6.00

THESE KOLPIN GRIPS SUCK AND BREAK VERY EASY

the ones i have on our quad are kolpin. a lil more than others but are well built. as hooters said u can carry a bow or ur tree stand with them.

as far as the back rack i want to get one for ours but going to take it off during the winter months. there really loud when going over bumps. but are great carrying a saw or alot of other things

Do you have the kolpin racks with the rubber starps, or is it the ratchet kind? Is it a single or a double? The regular or the XL? Sorry for all the questions.

its a single Xl, it has the rubber straps but i lost them shortly after i got them. need new ones. it still hold my bow or gun without anything on them. on the double i didnt think u could carry 2 bows, if i knew u could i would get a new set now.

Bullzi answered my question about the ratchet one. If I get the double (which is what I'm leaning toward) and it can hold two bows, I'll let you know.

AND THE THUMB EXTENSIONS ARE WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN GOLD. COURSE THEY AINT TOO SPENDY OR HEAVY. THEY GIVE YOUR THUMB A NICE BREAK AFTER A LONG RIDE BECAUSE YOU CAN USE THE PALM OF YOUR HAND TOO.

NICE

Rubber straps, my rack has a bunch on it, they come in so handy and will secure most anything. I also keep a short (10') rope tied around the rear rack. These things take up zero space, but amazing how many times you will use them.

The Rubber straps are a good idea, I'll pick some of them up on the way home. How do you guys haul your chain saw around? Do you just strap it to the rack or do any of you have one of those chain saw holders? I don't really think they're worth the money, however, if it saves my saw from taking a tumble, it might pay for itself in the repair bills.

i just strap it to the racks, but if i cut more wood i would get the holder for it. I just take mine out everyonce n a while to cut down some falling tree in my trails. Maybe a shooting lane if need be.

Im going to out and take a picture of our Quad brb in 10 mins.

What kind of compressor? Something just big enough to air up the tires?

I have mine pimped out with a front pack by badlands filled with bungee cords, tow straps, snatch block, 16oz slime for flat tires, tree strap, screw in tree steps and a tire plug kit. Back rack stays empty, it gets used for setting up farms carrying chain saws, straps, etc. I also pull a trailer with it when needed.I regret buying a spotlight because I've never never needed one while on a quad.
